Notes from MooCow Officers’ Meeting, January 28, 2002
1. On Monday, January 28, 2002, officers and special directors met to discuss upcoming events and rides for this calendar year. Present were John McGinn, Larry Hiscox, Cynthia Helmick, Randy Adams, Mark Trail, Cathy Jackson, and Frank James.
2. Membership: The new membership card designed by Jeff Pritchett was reviewed and approved. It will have Dan Cathy’s signature and the MooCow logo.
3. Club Accoutrements: John stated the same company that made the t-shirts would make patches (the same size and design as on our jackets) for $31.50 each for the first 50. There is a one time $468.00 setup charge. John will check to see if we can get the price lower and have the setup charge eliminated. We have a bumper sicker designed that will be $3.50 each, the size is approximately 2x4 inches. The group recommended that we check into making the size smaller to fit on helmets or larger for a car bumper sicker. John stated that most of the t-shirts were sold except for the white/red ones. We have not reordered jackets.
4. Web Site: Randy indicated he received all the codes and access to the web site from Dan and is working on learning the Front-Page software. The group agreed that any photos older then 12 months should be removed and the events/calendar be updated as soon as possible. Also the latest Meeting Minutes should be posted to the web page and the dates for each regularly scheduled meeting (second Monday of the month). A listing of dates is attached to these notes.
5. Rides: The following scheduled rides and dates were agreed upon:
- February. No scheduled ride.
- March. Date: Saturday, 30 March. March is our anniversary month. A ride to The Rock Ranch, at The Rock, Georgia (Barnesville Hwy) is planned with a BBQ meal and possible music by the Chick-fil-A Band or Blood and Fire (B&F) Band. Leave from the Fayetteville Chick-fil-A (CFA) location.
- April. Date: To be Determined. A weekend trip is tentatively planned to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Cathy will check on dates and hotels for more details. This will be a weekend ride, scheduled to leave on Friday morning and return Sunday evening.
- April. Date: Saturday, 20 April. Great Southland Stampede Pro Rodeo, Athens, Georgia. This will be a great ride starting at CFA in Fayetteville. We’ll ride the back roads to Athens, Stegeman Coliseum, and attend this sanctioned PRCA event. This is the largest professional rodeo in Georgia. It features all the major events, including bareback riding, saddle bronco riding, barrel racing, and bull riding. Plan to eat at the rodeo or we’ll stop somewhere along the way. The ride leaves from that location and goes to Andersonville, Georgia to the National Historic Site at the Andersonville Civil War Prison. That same weekend is the Andersonville Historic Spring Fair. We’ll either leave with the group from Stone Mountain, or from the CFA, Fayetteville location. This is a great historical site and fair, there will be Civil War battle reenactments, authentic encampments, crafts of blacksmiths and others. We can also visit the Drummer Boy Civil War Museum, the Andersonville Prison Site, and the National Prisoner of War Museum. More information can be obtained from http://www.andersonvillega.freeservers.com or 229-924-2558.

At 2,407 feet above sea level, it is the highest point in Alabama. Situated in the rugged highlands of northern Alabama, this 2,719 acre wooded park offers many activities, a lake, wildlife, and many panoramic views. History buffs will enjoy the many stone Civilian Conservation Corps structures and museum. There is a restaurant on the grounds. More details will follow on these tentative rides. Additionally, in October the Metro Atlanta BBQ Championship is scheduled for the 17th through the weekend. The location is the Clayton County International Park. This might be a nice short ride for those interested.
- November. No rides or dates were scheduled.
- December. Two tentative rides: December Christmas Parade and the CFA Peach Bowl Parade. The CFA Peach Bowl will be December 31, 2002.
6. Other: Cynthia recommended we check to see if there are any member’s interested in becoming ride leaders and possibly holding a half-day class (with a short ride to follow the training). We would need someone experienced in the Motorcycle Safety Course(s) to teach the class. John said we’d put this out at the February meeting to see if there were any interests from members.
