Welcome

John McGinn, Vice President of the MooCow Bikers, opened the January 2003 meeting at 7:15 PM. Approximately 45 people were present. John reported that our President-Cow, Dan Cathy, would not be attending this evening. Dan and his father, Truett Cathy, have been involved in the new Governor's inaugural events all day and are attending the gala this evening. Senior Mr. Cathy had the honor of speaking at the Prayer Breakfast just this morning.

Nolan Robinson and "helpers" from Chick-fil-A Headquarters had special nametags available for all. Everyone is encouraged to wear your nametag at all meetings!

John also introduced several new officers. Two are our new Sergeants-at-Arm Cows, Randy Adams and Calvin Huggins. These gentlemen have a wide variety of duties including the power to "fine" those they see in breach of good etiquette or discipline (so don't forget those nametags). Unfortunately for the Herd, but fortunately for Blood N Fire (B&F), few "published" rules for fining are available, so the Sergeants-at-Arms are left to their own discretion in levying of fines. Additionally, our new Treasurer-Cow, John Pekarskae, was introduced. John P. replaces Jeff Pritchett. Jeff has served untiringly the last two years! Thanks Jeff for a great job and your service to the Herd.

Blood and Fire (B&F) Update

Chris Franklin gave a heartfelt testimonial about B&F and God keeping His promise for the ministry this year. On December 5th, B&F was short over $436,000 for the year. By the evening of December 31st, the shortfall was down to approximately $23,000. Late that evening, Chris had decided to head home, as the US Mail had already run for the day and no more donations were expected. While driving down the interstate his cell phone rang. After identifying himself to the caller, Chris was awed by what the caller said next….B&F would be receiving an anonymous gift of $150,000! God had been faithful! He had not only fulfilled His promise but also exceeded it beyond all their dreams.

We also received testimonials from two gentlemen currently involved in B&F, on what the organization and family of B&F has done for them. Chris introduced his wife, who told us how grateful she was for all the good things the MooCow Bikers have done for them and the ministry.

Next Calendar Ride/Events Update

Frank James and Gary Stewart brought a video of the Cow Ride from the Festival of Trees Parade. It was a great show and appears the crowd really enjoyed the bikes!

The Vice Cow reported that the 2003 riding season would begin in full swing by March 2003. The officers will be meeting soon setting up the proposed ride schedule. The Herd should look for emails announcing rides and an update to the webpage. If you have any suggested ride "ideas" provide the information to one of the officers or the Vice Cow at jcmcginn01@aol.com. Mark Trail remains our chief Ride Captain and primary organizer for rides. Give any info to Mark at mtrail@dch.state.ga.us.

            - Next meeting dates for Calendar Year 2003 are February 10, March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8.

            - If you have a special event you want to include in the minutes contact the Secretary Cow at 678-545-0664, or bring your announcement to the next meeting.

Old Agenda Items

No old agenda items were discussed.

New Agenda Items

Nolan reported on the recent motorcycle show held in Atlanta. The Head Cow asked him to do some research on finding some items that would make the MooCow Bikers "stand-out" in a crowd when participating in events such as the CFA Peach Bowl and the Festival of Trees Parades. Nolan found helmets that are similar to the Head Cow's horn helmet. Anyone interested in a helmet should sign up immediately. Helmets are expected to cost around $100 dollars. Additionally, he found a set of motorcycle horns for your scooter, purported to be the loudest horns available for a motorcycle. The approximate price for these should be around $160, but we might be able to get them for less, depending on the numbers that sign up

Safety Brief

No safety brief was given this meeting.

Ride Captains are reminded they are responsible for a Safety brief before each scheduled group ride. Everyone should check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm

President’s Last Word

John stated we should all look forward to another great year of fellowship, food, rides, safety, and above all, giving to others.
