Minutes, July 8, 2002

Welcome

John McGinn, Vice President of the MooCow Bikers, opened the meeting at 7:45 PM on July 8, 2002. Approximately forty-five people were present including many new faces. Several individuals introduced themselves or were introduced by members. Welcome to: Deborah Benefield, Shane Huggins, Jane Butts, Rex McDonald, and Al and Sylvia Guise.

Harley Raffle- Ride-n-Fire Tour

John encouraged everyone to get out and sale those tickets for the 2002 Ride N Fire Harley Davidson (HD) motorcycle raffle! We are not sure exactly how many tickets have been sold so far, probably 100, that leaves 300 to sell. You can go to the website (www.moocowbikers.org) and register for the raffle or obtain a ticket from many of our members. The event will be Saturday, August 24, 2002, 1200 noon, at the Chick-fil-A (CFA) Headquarters, Buffington Road, College Park. Free food will be provided by the Varsity and entertainment by the MooCow Band. Remember it will be a reverse auction so you will want to be there for the entire event!

Blood and Fire (B&F) Update

John gave a brief overview to all the new folks about B&F ministries. He stated that CFA had recently funded and helped them complete a state-of-the-art kitchen to assist in their feeding programs.

Administrative Announcements/Reports

a.  Membership:   John and Larry handed out membership cards. If you are a dues paying member and did not receive a card contact Jeff Pritchett by email at jspritchett@mindspring.com. At this meeting 15 new paid members signed up. This is great, keep them coming! As the Vice Cow says: if you like "family, fun, riding from restaurant-to-restaurant.....serving others...you will love the MooCow Bikers."

b.  Budget/Funds:  During this meeting approximately $813.00 was collected for Blood N'Fire. Again, your generosity continues to help others.

Old Agenda Items

No old agenda items were discussed.

New Agenda Items

         - John talked briefly about the new "For Sale" section on the website being developed by Jim Corley. If you have a bike or other personal items you'd like to sale, give Jim an email description at jcorley@jimcorley.com.

         - Ray gave us a great report on the Wing Ding (Honda Gold Wing) 2002 ride he recently attended in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is one of Honda's major events of the year and was attended by thousands of Gold Wing (and other bike) owners.

Safety Brief

John encouraged everyone to check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm

President’s Last Word

Dan was not present but John gave a good Scripture reading from Proverbs 8:1-11. He reminded us of the great words of encouragement and wisdom that are right at our fingertips in these wonderful chapters of the Bible. "Words that are better the rubies." John encouraged everyone to read more from Proverbs and to seek God's wisdom. Your life will be greatly enriched by studying His words.
