Old Agenda Items

The "auction" and 50/50 drawing this month netted approximately $84.00 in additional funds for B&F support. John McGinn took home a great 500-piece Harley Davidson puzzle from the auction. Anyone wishing to donate items to the monthly auction should let John or Wayne Farr know.

Charlie indicated there were plenty of "Turtle" hats available, in the popular green and black styles, for a low $10.00. These custom hats cannot be purchased anywhere else, and will only be available for a limited time.

New Agenda Items

Dan Cathy, President, had two announcements. He asked that we keep the Kyle Petty family in our thoughts and prayers. Kyle's son Austin was recently involved in a motorcycle accident, and has a few fractures and two broken ankles.

Dan also indicated that the Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Ride Across America organization was planning some "nugget" rides in association with the NASCAR racing this Summer and Fall. These short "nugget" rides will usually be one day in length, and will be used to raise funds in support of the "Victory Junction Gang Camp." The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a Kyle Petty sponsored "medical camp for children and their families living with chronic and/or life-threatening illnesses." Look for more news about a possible one-day ride around October 27th, here in Atlanta at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. You can find more information about the Victory Junction Gang Camp at www.victoryjunction.org. John McGinn indicated that donations were welcomed, and to sponsor one child for a week at the camp cost $1,500.00.

Safety Brief

Ride Captains are reminded they are responsible for a safety brief before each scheduled group ride. Everyone should check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm

President’s Last Word

John McGinn closed by reading an email that Dan Joiner had sent in. The jest of the email told a story about a farmer and his new hired helper. The hired helper didn't get overly concerned when the "wind blew" because he was prepared! John asked, how prepared are you? Who are you "grounded" in when the troubles of our day-to-day existence, when the wind blows us, what is your foundation to lean on? When you are prepared spiritually, mentally, and if you ground yourself in God's Word and Jesus Christ, you will be able to withstand life's troubles and trails. The "wind that blows" into your life. We should remember that God and His Word are always with us. John ended this month's meeting with a final prayer.
