Comments and Opening

John McGinn reviewed an email from Richard Petty and the Victory Junction Gang expressing thanks for the effort of the Moo Cow Bikers at the Truett Dinner. $7,583.44 was raised. Chick-fil-a provided the food.

John also reported on the July 4th parade. There were ten bikes and fourteen people. The group was a success and provided quality representation for Chick-fil-a and the Moo Cow Bikers.

Attendance

We had a good "core" group at the meeting - about 35 people. While we set a record for the lowest attendance; the reduction in attendance can be attributed to the outstanding turnout that was realized on the previous Friday event at Truett's.

Summary of discussion of Dinner with Truett

The group spent some time discussing the Dinner with Truett; the good, the bad, and how to improve. Of notable significance, approximately 50% of the attendees were not Moo Cow Bikers. This was in line with our target market, since outsiders are more likely to contribute and demonstrate a new level of interest in the charity-minded vision of the group. There was plenty of good to discuss, and a few ideas on how to improve in the future:

  • We will try to coordinate the next dinner with one of the races in Atlanta and target the day of the dinner to one that would coincide with a day that allow for with Kyle and/or Patty to attend.
  • We will raise the ticket prices.
  • We will encourage the attendance of charity-minded individuals who will bid large sums of money.
  • We appreciate and will encourage Cathy Gailey to continue as the director of the auction items as well as to further investigate and encourage "big ticket" items.

New ideas are welcome and will continue to be solicited.

Blood-n-fire

Rose provided an overview of events at Blood-n-fire. A new focus will be on women and children. They would like for us to come to dinner on a Saturday night, yet to be determined. Visit Blood-n-fire at www.bloodnfire.com

Devotional

David Riner presented the devotional on Mark 13. The theme centered around the Prodigal's Son, who rose and went to a far country.

  • David compared a far country to anywhere that a person is without God. The Prodigal's Son took his stuff and left, as many do.
  • The theme continued as the focus moved to why people leave God. The primary reason that people leave God is an expected experience of freedom. The contrary is usually found to be true.
  • Continuing, David reviewed the road back. The road back is the same road you left on. The parable states that the son came to himself and went back. The Father was waiting as He does today for all to come. The Father was looking as the son returned and He ran to meet him.
