Minutes, June 10, 2002
John McGinn, Vice President of the MooCow Bikers, opened the meeting at 8:00 PM on June 10, 2002. Approximately fifty were present including many family members.
John encouraged everyone to get out and sale those tickets for the 2002 Ride N Fire Harley Davidson (HD) motorcycle raffle! So far approximately sixty tickets have been sold. You can go to the website (www.moocowbikers.org) and register for the raffle or obtain a ticket from many of our members. The event will be Saturday, August 24, 2002, 1200 noon, at the Chick-fil-A (CFA) Headquarters, Buffington Road, College Park.
No B&F update was given.
- On Saturday, June 22d, the monthly MooCow ride is scheduled for a trip to Cheaha State Park, near Anniston/Delta, Alabama. We will meet at the CFA, Fayetteville or Peachtree City, and ride the back-roads through Georgia into Alabama; the park is located off Hwy 281. The centerpiece of the park is Mount Cheaha. At 2,407 feet above sea level, it is the highest point in Alabama. Situated in the rugged highlands of northern Alabama, this 2,719 acre wooded park offers many panoramic views. History buffs will enjoy the many stone Civilian Conservation Corps structures and museum. There is a restaurant on the grounds where we plan to stop and eat. The cost is approximately $7.95 for the buffet. Entrance to the park is $1.00 per person. There are about 20-to-30 miles of nice "twisty" roads on the route to the park so it should be a fun ride. For more details on the state park see the web site: http://www.llbean.com/parksearch/parks/html/10546gd.htm.
- On Saturday, June 29th, there is a tentative ride to Rome, Georgia to the WinShape Facility. More details to follow from the Vice Cow.
- Next meeting dates for Calendar Year 2002 are July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, and December 9.

The Minutes for the May are posted on the website.
a. Membership: John took pictures of all new members for the membership roster. Please give Jeff Pritchett any updates to your address/email/phone numbers. Jeff's email is jspritchett@mindspring.com.
b. Budget/Funds: No budget report was provided this meeting.
No old agenda items were discussed.
John and Mike White discussed a plan to train Ride Captains and Ride Sweeps for future rides. Mike is going to setup some training through Stone Mountain Harley Davidson. If you are interested in volunteering for Ride Captain or Sweep duties let John know by email at jcmcginn01@aol.com.
For future rides we are going to institute some new ride 'rules.' We will start each ride briefing 30 minutes before a ride (so you need to ensure you are on-time and with gas in your tank). Large ride groups will be divided up into smaller groups of ten with a Ride Captain and a Sweep per group. We'll base the groups on each rider's abilities or style (fast or slow). Once assigned a group, you must stay with that group and keep the Ride Captain informed of what you are doing (when you plan on leaving the group, if you are not returning with the group, etc). Additionally, there will be plenty of maps and directions given out before each ride. And each individual will be assigned a riding buddy. You will be responsible for that buddy during the entire group ride.
John encouraged everyone to check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm
Dan was present at the meeting and gave us all a good talk on his experience with the "burning bush." He stated that the last few weeks have been an incredible wonderful experience for him and he would not change what has happened. He will write a short story on this experience and ask John to send it out to everyone. Dan stated he realized God answered a lot of peoples' prayers and he is thankful for that. He reminded us that the Bible (Romans 8) states "that all things work for our good".....and you and I will never go any place that God is not already there.
