Auction: Charlie and Wade provided some great entertainment by "auctioning" off the new Turtle Group's black and green hats. The bidding started at $10.00 per hat, or two for $25.00. What a bargain! These are custom made hats that cannot be purchased anywhere else. Great fun was had by all enjoying Charlie's unique style of "purchase-encouragement". Dan introduced his son, Andrew Cathy, who is currently teaching at Landmark Christian Academy. Andrew gave us a quick overview of a summer ministry program he is involved in called "South Point" community church. The church is affiliated with the Andy Stanley's ministry and the North Point Community Church. This new community, on the southside, will start meeting in August and Andrew asked we keep this special ministry in our prayers. The location is behind BBQ Junction in Tyrone (off Crabapple Road). Find out more about this ministry at www.northpoint.org.
Ride Captains are reminded they are responsible for a safety brief before each scheduled group ride. Everyone should check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm
Dan gave us a short update on Chick-fil-A. He stated the year has been super with the corporation opening new restaurants all over the country. The next great grand opening is Clearwater, Florida, where Dan plans to "camp-out" overnight with customers hoping to win in the promotional "free Chick-fil-A for a year." Dan also indicated they are the only national restaurant chain now offering fresh fruit as a menu option, along with several other new chicken items
John McGinn closed by reading to us from the 23d Psalm. John said, for most of us this is probably the first verse of the Bible we memorized as a young person, and we often repeat it without really listening or hearing the words. John encouraged us to really read it again…and open our eyes to what King David is saying in these psalm. David puts all his trust in the Lord…. "The Lord is my Shepard….He makes me…. He leads me…. He guides me…" David's words remind us of how much in control God is in our lives. Read this psalm again and get a better perspective of this, and a new appreciation of what His will is for your life. John says, "we like to think we are in control" but the Lord is! And we should remember that, and like the palmist says God is with you always.
