Welcome

In case you missed the May meeting, here are the highlights:

We had nine, I think, true bikers show up at the Dwarf House in Fayetteville for the short ride to downtown Atlanta. So the threat of rain, not to mention a few actual showers, existed; maybe that fact kept the numbers down. We proceeded to Blood N Fire without major incident. I say major incident because our number immediately reduced to five riders. What possibly could have happened? Thankfully a few minutes after our arrival at Blood N Fire, the rest of the group showed up. Faith was restored in the resolve of our riders. It was also a relief to see that more of our regulars had come to the meeting in "cages."

Upon arrival, a request was made for the Moo Cows to sit at tables throughout the dining facility rather than sitting together. The idea was to give us an opportunity to meet some of the "house guests" and vice versa. Yes, it took a few minutes to make conversation, as both parties were a bit ill at ease with each other. The men who shared dinner with me had been in the facility for varying lengths of time. All expressed thanks for Blood N Fire and for the blessings of being there. At this particular time, the thanks was primarily for food to eat! As with all people, these men kidded each other and the group at the table had a member who was more relaxed and more conversational. He was expressing to the others that they were blessed to have steak for dinner (actually roast beef).

Nathan Trail came over to the table for a visit. He was informative as to the process of Blood N Fire and how the people of Atlanta can use the facility and become a part of the family. Nathan (Mark's son) is now on the transition team and spends his time with persons who are more seriously involved in the Blood N Fire family and in improving their lives.

After dinner, the family members retired to the sanctuary for evening services. Blood N Fire provided a treat in an actual PA system. People all over the cafeteria could hear what was being said. Wayne, Chris, both Linda's and I shared some of the events of the 10th annual Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride. I'll send out a memo on that ride later, after all the facts begin to fade into the past and the mind can creatively muster a recollection of the trip. (what did he just say)?

As usual, we were blessed to visit with Blood N Fire. Even to spend a short time at the facility is a blessing. We donate a small amount of time and money to this ministry, but to actually see where our effort goes helps to justify the cause. The residents there have been blessed in ways that differ from you and me. But you can count on the fact that they have been blessed. Just as you can be a blessing to others, so are they. Keep the Blood N Fire team in you prayers for faithfulness to the "displaced" of Atlanta and for the residents to receive God's love for them.

Hopefully, all made a safe trip home. See you next month, if not before.
