Welcome

John McGinn, Vice Cow, started the September 2004 meeting at 7:00 p.m. John asked Wayne Farr to open the meeting with a prayer; blessing the group, and the great Chick-fil-A (CFA) food we had just eaten. John welcomed everyone. There were approximately 60 members and guests at the meeting.

Blood and Fire (B&F) Update

A Blood n Fire update will be provided by separate email.

Events Update

Charlie Sorrel gave us a "Turtle" report on their ride to Lake Jackson. Charlie challenged the "Rabbit" group to a golf tournament (time and place to be determined, probably in the Lake Dow area). If you are interested in the golf tournament sign up with Charlie or Joyce. The tournament will be open only to MooCow members (no sand baggers), and promises to offer a great variety of challenges for all level of players.

John McGinn emailed the "Rabbit" report ride to everyone last week. John, Leon West, and others traveled a fast 5,800+ miles in 10 days, and saw lots of scenery.

Next Calendar Ride/Events Update

Official MooCow rides for this year are published on the website. Some highlights are listed below. If you have any suggested ride "ideas", provide the information to our Ride Captain, Leon West at mochrome@netzero.com.

The "official" MooCow ride for September is a Turtle and Rabbit ride on September 25, 2004 to Cloud Land Sate Park, near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The ride will meet at the Fayetteville CFA. John will provide a time by separate email. There are no restaurants at or near this state park, so this ride would be good time to pack a picnic lunch. This park offers lots of opportunity to walk nature trails, look at waterfalls, and other beautiful scenery.

On October 9, 2004, we are scheduled to ride in the Georgia National Fair Parade in Perry, Georgia. We will meet at the Fayetteville CFA early, 7:00 am. The parade starts at 9:00 am in Perry so this will be a fast ride down. After the parade you can enjoy the great fair and sample some wonderful food.

Other ride opportunities include the Shriners ride this Saturday, September 18, 2004 and the Honda "tab" ride scheduled for September 25th. As more information is obtained it will be published.

The next meeting dates for CalendarYear 2004 are: October 11, November 8, and December 13. The November or December meeting is tentatively planned for Dan Cathy's home.

Minutes

There were no published minutes for August 2004.

Administrative Announcements/Reports

a.  Membership:  John reminded everyone that yearly dues are due in December and that membership is still $15.00 per person.

b.  Budget/Funds:  There was no budget report given this month.

Old Agenda Items

John McGinn auctioned off several "rare" MooCow shirts and hats, which netted about $152.00 for B&F support. Anyone wishing to donate items to the monthly auction should let John or Wayne Farr know. All official MooCow merchandise is now at John's office in Peachtree City. Come by and see John or email at jcmcginn01@aol.com, if you want to do some early Christmas shopping.

Gary Stewart won the 50/50 drawing. Gary took home $86.00, with another $86.00 going to B&F.

Charlie indicated there were plenty of "Turtle" hats available, in the popular green and black styles, for a low $10.00.

New Agenda Items

John and Wayne gave us some details about the upcoming CFA sponsored Kyle Petty "Nugget" Ride scheduled for Wednesday, October 27th. The ride will cost $145.00 per person, and all funds go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp charity (find out more at www.victoryjunction.org). The route has yet to be determined, but will probably be in the Callaway Gardens area (south of Peachtree City). Richard Petty will be involved in this ride and it promises to be a great event. Wayne encouraged everyone to come out and show their support to CFA for all the support they give us each year.

The next CFA sponsored event is October 20, 2004 (Wednesday). This is the grand opening of the Clayton, Georgia Chick-fil-A restaurant. The ride is about two and one-half hours to Clayton. This promises to be great fun, with the local citizens of Clayton. You can camp out with everyone or just come up for the grand opening. And you will also have an opportunity to win CFA food for a year! Larry Hiscox reminded us this is not a charity thing, but something we can give back to CFA for all the support the corporation gives to us.

Safety Brief

Ride Captains are reminded they are responsible for a safety brief before each scheduled group ride. Everyone should check out the website for safety information on riding in groups, hand signals, etc. http://www.moocowbikers.org/handsignals.htm

President’s Last Word

John McGinn gave us some last words of encouragement and reminded everyone that we are different because we pray and read Scripture. John said he is studying at his church about God's covenants with different men in the Bible (Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Daniel). However, the New Testament tells us of God's new covenant of Grace, through Jesus Christ. John read from Proverbs 3, which speaks to us about the benefits of Wisdom, and "trusting in the Lord with all your heart, leaning not on your own understanding... Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops, then your barns will be filled to overflowing…." God is saying, trust in Him, and honor Him, and He will bless you. John reminded us to look at the big picture. God may not bless you with all the things/toys in life you want to possess, remember it is not important that "he who dies with the most toys wins." But what is important is he who dies in Christ wins.

The meeting ended with John leading us in a final prayer.
